We are so blessed and happy to have Dr. Ravi Ravindra return to us at the Dharma Loft to share his wisdom and knowledge in two workshops!
One common lesson of all the scriptures and the teachings of all the sages is that ”as long as I remain the way I am, I cannot come to the Truth or God or Brahman”. A radical transformation is required, from freedom for myself to freedom from myself. We will explore the science of Yoga as elaborated in the two classics of Yoga—the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita.
(Copies of the Gita and the Yoga Sutra as well as other books by Dr. Ravindra can be purchased at the Dharma Loft).
Ravi Ravindra was born in India and studied there until a Master of Technology degree. Then he studied in Canada where he received an M.A. in Philosophy and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics. Now he is a Professor Emeritus at Dalhousie University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he served for many years as a professor in three departments: Physics, Philosophy, and Comparative Religion. He was a Member of the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla, and the Founding Director of the Threshold Award for Integrative Knowledge. He has been a member of the Board of Judges for the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion. Ravindra’s spiritual search has led him to the teachings of J. Krishnamurti, G. Gurdjieff, Yoga, Zen, and a deep immersion in the mystical teachings of the Indian and Christian classical traditions. Among his books are “The Yoga of the Christ”, “Science and the Sacred”, “Heart Without Measure: Gurdjieff Work with Madame de Salzmann”, “J. Krishnamurti: Two Birds on One Tree”, “Wisdom of Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras”, “The Pilgrim Soul: A Path to the Sacred Transcending World Religions” and “The Bhagavad Gita; A Guide to Navigating the Battle of Life.”
